My Team

Let me introduce ourselves!!

  • The Musher

This is me, ( Marc ), and the musher of the team.

I've got my first Siberian Husky (Husky) from 1994, and after a visit to a rig-race I brought Kinuk into the house, and started training on my mountain-bike.

In 1996 I also got Sunny, and started running rig-races.

In 1997 I introduced Snack ( her official name is Jordi, but the nickname fitted better) to the team, and also started running in snow-races.

In the summer of 2000 Kaya and Misty where born, and are with my since July of that year. From season 2001/2002 they changed places with Kinuk and Sunny.

And in November of 2000 Punch joint the team to change with Husky. She run both in lead as well in wheel.

In May 2003 Cheyenne, daughter of Kinuk and Kaya was born, together with 1 brother and 4 sisters. Cheyenne will be running in my team for the first time in the 2003/2004 season.

In the summer of 2004 we moved to Belgium, where we have a lot more space for the dogs.
They now have a great piece of land where they can run as much as they want.

Since march of 2006 we have our Belgium kennel registration, "The Arctic Gathering", and we are planning to "breed" some new team members for next summer.

Unfortunately Misy died April 27, 2007.
She had an tumor, witch not could be removed.

Two weeks before his 14th birthday Kinuk died on May 17 2008.
He died of old age.

3 months after Kinuk died, we had to say goodbye to Punch on August 4 2008.
She just had a tumor removed, but unfortunately it was to late to save her.

When mother nature is with us, we will be expecting a lot of puppies from Kaya in the beginning of September.
At this moment our team has only 2 running dogs, so some new team members are very welcome!!

  • The handler

This is Kristel, my girlfriend, and she is the handler of the team.
She makes sure that i get save to the start and finish with my dogs, and she also is the "culinary chef" of the team.

  • The Wheel dogs

The are the dogs, that run in front of the sled. It are usably the biggest, and the strongest dogs of a team.

Snack

This is Snack (=because she tries to eat everything, eatable or not! ) a female. She is a wheeler in my team,  she has a very loveable character, is still very playful and super enthusiastic. She is now enjoying to be our "housedog".

  • The Team dog(s)

The team dogs are running between the wheel- and leaddogs.

This is Cheyenne, daughter of  Kinuk en Kaya.

She is in my team since 2003.

  • The Lead dogs

These are the intelligent dogs, that react on commands for example turning corners and increasing speed. Sleddog teams only use commands by voice to steer the dogs, we never use whips or leads.

Kaya

And this is Kaya, the mother of Cheyenne, and the sister of Misty.
